The 67th invasion of Normandy started on the 2nd June 2011 when the Moodie family landed in the area of Sannerville to meet up with members of PathfinderGroup UK to start the parachuting that was to
take place on the WW2 DZK over two day's, due to bad luck with the French authorities and weather the Jumps could not take place a real disapointment to George Moodie's Grandaughter isobel who was to jump for her grandad. Well with that we continued our visit around all the sites Pegasus Bridge, The Beaches etc over the next days.

The main event for George was the memorial service at Merville Batterie where he met some of his old 9th Bn friends, there not being many left now the service was emotional for all who attended. He was then interviewed by the BBC for a TV series that will air in the Autum, which took over 2 hours to do but he soldiered on in the Airborne way.

That visit was also a busy period for George as he was asked to sign many many books and sign autographs for many people and was also thanked by many, he had writers cramp by the end of his visit.

He then attended his own private service at Ranville Cemetry to remember his friends who did not return from those fields 67 year ago.

Our trip ended all too soon and it was another 2 day journey home from France.
